Devil's Den stabbing suspect likely didn't know people he killed, law enforcement says

Fort Smith, ARLocal News

Andrew James McGann, 28, has been charged with the murders of Clinton and Cristen Brink, who were stabbed while hiking at Devil's Den State Park in Arkansas. Law enforcement officials believe McGann did not know the victims, and they are currently investigating his motive. Major Stacie Rhoads, Arkansas State Police CID Commander, indicated that more details will be made available to the public soon. McGann recently relocated from Oklahoma, where he was a teacher candidate, to Springdale, Arkansas, for a new teaching position. The Brinks, who had moved to Prairie Grove from out of state, were enjoying their hike when the attack occurred.

The incident has raised concerns among local residents about safety in state parks. A correction was issued, confirming McGann's name after initial reports misidentified him. The community awaits further updates on the investigation and potential legal proceedings.
