Ozark Folkways celebrates all things tomato with cooking contest, crafts

Ozark Folkways will host its first Tomato Festival on August 2 at Mount Gaylor, south of Winslow. The event features live music, craft activities, and garden demonstrations. General admission costs $10, with free entry for children under 12; participants in the cooking contest pay $15. Contestants must provide enough food for 20 judges and an ingredient list. Judging will occur from 2 to 3 p.

m. , with prizes awarded for taste, creativity, and presentation. Live performances will include artists such as Carol Widder and Joe Conley. Various outdoor activities will also take place, including demonstrations on gardening and salsa making.
