UAFS appoints Treadaway to head new center supporting nonprofits
Emily Treadaway has been named the first director of the University of Arkansas–Fort Smith’s Center for Nonprofits, which aims to bolster the nonprofit sector throughout Arkansas. With over a decade of leadership experience, including eight years with the Junior League of Fort Smith, Treadaway previously served as executive director of The CALL, focusing on foster care and adoption. The center, located in the Bakery District at the Center for Economic Development, will offer resources such as workshops, grant writing assistance, and networking events. A $7. 5 million gift has endowed the center, ensuring its long-term sustainability.
Treadaway will also collaborate with the UAFS Department of Social Work to integrate academic and professional expertise. “Working with nonprofits really hits close to home for me,” she stated, highlighting her personal connection to the community's challenges. Kendall Ross, associate vice chancellor of economic and workforce development, praised Treadaway’s passion for community connection and advocacy. Her leadership is expected to create lasting change in the nonprofit sector.
