Fort Smith, ARLocal News

Three individuals remain in critical condition after a fireworks explosion at the Choctaw Nation Capitol Grounds in Oklahoma, during preparations for the annual Boom in the Valley celebration. Witness Dan Trujillo reported seeing sparks on a trailer before the explosion, which sent fireworks shooting in all directions. Five people were injured in total, with three suffering severe burns and flown to Oklahoma City for treatment, while two others received minor injuries. Trujillo assisted a burned crew member, expressing his hope for the victims’ recovery. The Choctaw Nation has expressed heartfelt prayers for the injured and their families.

The fire destroyed a cabin and caused damage to surrounding structures. As a result of the incident, the Choctaw Nation canceled this year's Boom in the Valley event. An investigation by the Choctaw Nation Public Safety Fire Marshals is underway to determine the cause of the explosion.
