Semi Catches Fire, Backing Up Everett Traffic This Afternoon

Everett, WALocal News

A semi-tractor trailer carrying Amazon goods caught fire on southbound I-5 at milepost 190. 3 in Everett, leading to major traffic disruptions on Saturday afternoon. The Everett Fire Department responded at approximately 1:15 PM, blocking the right two lanes to address the blaze. Traffic backed up for several miles, affecting commuters and local events until the scene was cleared after 6 PM. Dick’s Towing handled the removal of the semi and activated their spill response team.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, alleviating concerns for driver safety. Shortly after dealing with the fire, Everett Fire responded to a brush fire on I-5 northbound near E Marine View Drive. Such incidents highlight the challenges of managing traffic during emergencies. The significant delays may also explain delays in Amazon deliveries for local customers.
