Port of Everett, Partners Awarded State Honor For Historic Weyerhaeuser Building Restoration At Waterfront Place

Everett, WALocal News

The Port of Everett and its partners were honored with the Valerie Sivinski Award for Outstanding Rehabilitation for their work on the historic Weyerhaeuser Office Building. This award recognizes projects that embody the preservation spirit of Valerie Sivinski, a leader in historic preservation in Washington. The restoration, which began in 2016, transformed the building into a modern space while maintaining its Gothic architectural features. Now open, the building features The Muse Whiskey & Coffee, a vintage coffee bar and whiskey bar, and serves as a marine clubhouse and event venue. Port Executive Director Lisa Lefeber highlighted the project’s ambitious nature and the teamwork involved in its execution.

Restoration efforts included saving significant architectural elements like stained glass windows and the original fireplace. In addition to the physical restoration, the Port created a virtual history experience detailing Everett's timber industry and the Weyerhaeuser Building's history. This initiative enhances community engagement and education about the building's storied past.
