Everett Community College Celebrates 2025 Graduates

Everett Community College recognized approximately 2,000 graduates during its commencement ceremony on June 8, 2025, marking a significant milestone with its first bachelor's degree recipients. Samuel Mutelesi Kabeya, the graduate speaker, shared his journey from Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, to pursuing an engineering degree, motivated by his desire to improve infrastructure in his home country. While at EvCC, he engaged in Phi Theta Kappa and the Black Student Union, and graduated with High Distinction as a scholarship recipient. The college awarded Mike Calvert, Assistant Chief of Operations for the Everett Fire Department, the 2025 Distinguished Alumnus title for his impactful career and community service. Calvert's contributions included research on earthquake-related water supply risks that enhanced community resilience.

Outstanding graduates from various programs also received recognition, showcasing the diverse achievements of the student body. The event highlighted the college's commitment to fostering leadership and service among its graduates. The commencement ceremony reinforced the importance of education in driving community development and individual aspirations.
