Snohomish County to Resurface Approximately 76 Miles of Roads this Summer

Everett, WALocal News

Snohomish County's Public Works Department will resurface approximately 76 miles of roads this summer to maintain its infrastructure. The Paving Program will involve paving seven miles of road and chip sealing 69 miles, with work starting in late June and lasting through September. Major traffic impacts are anticipated on 140th St NW/NE in Marysville, where single-lane closures will occur. Doug McCormick, Snohomish County Engineer, emphasized that proactive maintenance saves taxpayer dollars by preventing more costly repairs. Chip sealing offers a cost-effective solution, extending road life by seven to ten years at one-third the cost of asphalt overlays.

Pre-leveling work has already begun, with chip sealing set to start in July. Temporary speed limits will be enforced post-chip seal to ensure safety and effectiveness. The work's weather dependency means schedules may change, requiring flexibility from drivers.
