The finalists were chosen from a strong pool of candidates, each recognized for their experience and commitment to education and community service. Among the candidates are Demetria Chatters, chair of the Snohomish County Human Rights Commission, and Jeffrey Doan, a former Boeing executive. School Board President Traci Mitchell emphasized the diverse backgrounds of the finalists, highlighting their potential to bring various perspectives to the board. An open session for interviews is scheduled for May 1, where the board may discuss qualifications in an executive session before making a decision.

The newly appointed director will be sworn in during the regular school board meeting on May 13, serving until December 2025.
