Gary Sinise Foundation Amazon Award Everett Fire 56K Equipment Grant

Everett, WALocal News

The Everett Fire Department (EFD) has secured a $56,000 grant from the Gary Sinise Foundation and Amazon aimed at enhancing firefighter rescue capabilities through the replacement of essential Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) packs. These packs are vital for rescuing firefighters who may become trapped or incapacitated during emergencies, containing equipment such as pressurized air bottles, SCBA masks, and rescue ropes. With this funding, the EFD will standardize RIT gear across all fire engines, significantly improving operational readiness and safety. Assistant Fire Chief Mike Calvert emphasized that updating these tools is crucial for firefighter safety and enhances interoperability with neighboring agencies. Dean Allsopp from Amazon expressed gratitude for the support received from the Everett community, highlighting the company's commitment to honoring local heroes.

The grant exemplifies a three-year partnership between Amazon and the Gary Sinise Foundation, dedicated to supporting first responders nationwide. Regular training sessions ensure that EFD firefighters are well-prepared to utilize the new equipment effectively. This investment not only underscores the importance of community safety but also reflects a broader commitment to the well-being of first responders.
