Everett Police make arrest in death of missing 4-year-old child

The Everett Police Department has made a significant arrest in the case of 4-year-old Ariel Garcia, who was reported missing under suspicious circumstances. Janet Garcia, Ariel's mother, has been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and assault of a child. Her arrest in Vancouver, Washington, comes shortly after the tragic discovery of Ariel's body along I-5 in Pierce County. Mayor Cassie Franklin expressed deep sorrow for the family while commending the police and community for their efforts during the investigation. The search for Ariel involved nearly one hundred officers from various jurisdictions, including the FBI, reflecting the case's urgency and seriousness.

The Everett Police Department issued an Endangered Missing Persons Advisory, although the case did not qualify for an AMBER Alert. As the investigation unfolds, Major Crimes detectives are actively pursuing leads and encouraging the public to provide any relevant information.
