Everett Fire Department's quick response prevents spread of residential fire

Everett, WALocal News

On April 1, 2024, just after 2:30 p. m. , the Everett Fire Department was dispatched to a house and garage fire in the View Ridge-Madison neighborhood. Firefighters quickly intervened, preventing the fire from spreading further to the main home and an adjacent duplex. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, but five family members from the duplex were displaced and offered emergency housing.

The investigation revealed that the fire originated from a lean-to shed structure at the back of the garage, although its cause remains undetermined. The primary residence sustained damage to its siding from radiant heat, while one duplex unit suffered extensive fire and smoke damage. The fire also impacted a neighboring vehicle, highlighting the fire's extensive reach. The Everett Fire Department is committed to educating the public on fire prevention, urging residents to maintain electrical installations and ensure smoke alarms are functional. For those in need, the Everett Fire Marshal’s Office offers free smoke alarm installations to local residents.
