Everett Fire extinguishes Tuesday house fire, emphasizes the importance of smoke alarms

On September 10, 2024, the Everett Fire Department responded to a critical house fire in the 5100 block of Dogwood, arriving within four minutes of the first 911 call. Witnesses reported heavy smoke and flames, prompting immediate action from the firefighters, who conducted a thorough search of the home. Fortunately, the homeowner and her dog were able to evacuate safely, although one cat tragically lost its life, and another remains unaccounted for. The fire was extinguished after about 40 minutes, thanks to the effective teamwork of local fire departments, including Mukilteo and Marysville Fire District. Additionally, the Everett Police assisted with traffic control, while Snohomish PUD secured utilities and the Red Cross supported the displaced resident.

This incident emphasizes the crucial need for functioning smoke alarms in homes; residents are encouraged to test and replace these alarms regularly. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Everett Fire Marshal’s Office. This event highlights the community's resilience and the importance of preparedness in emergency situations.
