House Fire in North Everett Leads to Firefighter Injury

Everett, WALocal News

The Everett Fire Department responded to a significant house fire in the North Everett Bayside neighborhood shortly before 12:45 a. m. on October 24, resulting in one firefighter sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. Witnesses alerted 911 about flames reaching seven feet, leading firefighters to an abandoned, boarded-up two-and-a-half-story home engulfed in flames. Initially, defensive operations were established, but crews quickly transitioned to an offensive strategy to access the interior and extinguish the fire.

During the operation, a firefighter fell approximately 12 to 15 feet from a second-story balcony due to a railing collapse, prompting immediate medical attention. Fortunately, he was treated and released from the hospital, now recuperating at home. Mayor Cassie Franklin and Fire Chief Dave DeMarco expressed gratitude and concern for the injured firefighter, emphasizing the risks that first responders face daily. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Everett Fire Marshal’s Office. Community support and recognition for the bravery of first responders were echoed throughout the incident.
