The Everett Career Link program was officially launched by Mayor Cassie Franklin during her State of the City address on January 31, 2019, aiming to connect high school students with valuable internship opportunities. This unique collaboration between the Everett School District and the City of Everett is designed to provide students with the chance to earn high school credits while gaining practical experience in local businesses. Mayor Franklin emphasized the significance of creating pathways for students, stating that their success is vital for the community's overall economic vitality. Superintendent Dr. Gary Cohn commended the initiative, pointing out that it fosters collaborative efforts between educational institutions and local businesses.

Already, companies like Kaiser Permanente and Providence have committed to hosting interns through the program this summer. The internships will consist of 90 hours of real-world experience, helping students become career-ready while supporting local businesses. This initiative not only benefits the students but also allows employers to tap into fresh, innovative perspectives.
