More housing and commercial development coming to Everetts riverfront
The Everett City Council has taken a significant step toward revitalizing the Riverfront area by approving a revised master plan for its development. This comprehensive mixed-use project, spearheaded by Shelter Holdings, will introduce essential amenities such as a movie theater, specialty grocery store, and 1,250 multi-family housing units above retail and restaurants. Additionally, the plan includes a 250-room hotel, office space, and a 3-acre park, aimed at benefiting the community both economically and recreationally. Mayor Cassie Franklin highlighted the project's potential to attract new residents and visitors, praising Shelter's vision and investment in Everett. The Riverfront district will transform three previously industrial brownfield sites, improving public access to the Snohomish River while restoring environmentally sensitive areas.
Originally approved in 2009, this master plan reflects updated economic conditions and consumer habits, ensuring its relevance. The development will unfold over six phases, with construction on the first phase anticipated to begin this summer. This initiative not only promises to enhance local infrastructure but also to foster community engagement and environmental stewardship.
