Emergency Repairs on Water Transmission Line Affecting 22,000 Customers East of Lake Stevens
The City of Everett's water utility is currently engaged in emergency repairs on a fracture in a water transmission line east of Lake Stevens, affecting approximately 22,000 customers, primarily those served by Snohomish County PUD. No in-town Everett customers are impacted, and there has been no reported property damage. Crews have been on-site since the leak was discovered on March 15, with repairs expected to take at least 24 hours. The utility has activated its automated emergency alert system to inform affected customers and is urging them to conserve water until repairs are complete. Jeff Marrs, Everett Utility operations superintendent, emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, “Everett is working around the clock to restore service.
” Customers have been advised against recreational water use and to limit activities such as washing vehicles. The Transmission Line 3, which has been operational since 1936, is critical for conveying water from Everett’s filtration plant to the city and surrounding areas. More information about the water system can be accessed through Everett's official website.
