Car Crashes Into Building in North Everett My Everett News

At approximately 3:00 p. m. on March 16, 2025, a serious incident occurred in North Everett when a blue passenger car crashed into Athea’s Footwear, located in the 1900 block of Broadway. The driver lost control, crossing into oncoming traffic, hitting a light pole before crashing through the building's south wall, which was fortunately closed at the time of the accident. The driver, a male in his mid-80s, was trapped inside the vehicle but fortunately sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Emergency services, including Everett Fire and Police, quickly arrived, initiating a technical rescue operation that involved the use of the "Jaws of Life" to extricate the driver. The entire operation took around 50 minutes, during which a structural engineer was called to assess the damage to the building. Additionally, Snohomish PUD responded to manage the downed light pole. This incident highlights the importance of emergency preparedness and quick response from local fire and police departments. The Everett Police Department is currently investigating the cause of the collision as Broadway remained closed during the rescue operation.
