House Fire in North Everett Leads to Firefighter Injury

A significant house fire occurred in the North Everett Bayside neighborhood on October 24, 2024, resulting in a firefighter sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. The Everett Fire Department responded promptly to reports of flames reaching seven feet at the back of an abandoned house. Upon arrival, firefighters established defensive operations before transitioning to offensive tactics to extinguish the blaze and search for potential occupants. During the firefighting efforts, a railing collapse led to one firefighter falling approximately 12 to 15 feet, necessitating medical evaluation at Providence Regional Medical Center. Fortunately, he was released after several hours and is now recovering at home.

Mayor Cassie Franklin expressed gratitude for the injured firefighter's recovery and acknowledged the risks faced by first responders. Fire Chief Dave DeMarco emphasized the daily dangers firefighters confront and commended the quick response of his crew. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Everett Fire Marshal’s Office.
