Everett Fire extinguishes Tuesday afternoon triplex fire

Everett, WALocal News

On September 3, 2024, a house fire erupted in a two-story triplex in Everett's View Ridge Madison neighborhood, prompting a swift response from Snohomish County 911. The initial call from a resident, coupled with reports from neighbors, highlighted the urgency of the situation as flames and heavy smoke engulfed the structure. Firefighters from Engine 4 engaged in offensive operations for 50 minutes before transitioning to a defensive attack due to safety hazards, including a partial roof collapse. All residents successfully evacuated, but sadly, two family cats did not survive the fire. The firefighting effort, which lasted a total of 70 minutes, involved collaboration with Mukilteo Fire and South County Fire, demonstrating the community's commitment to safety.

An engine remained on-site to address lingering hotspots, while Everett Police helped with traffic control and coordinated support for displaced residents through the Red Cross. The incident serves as a critical reminder of the necessity for functioning smoke alarms and well-practiced fire evacuation plans. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Everett Fire Marshal’s Office.
