WSDOT Shares Pictures of New Girders Up for the Future Southbound I-5 Exit to SR 529 My Everett News

Everett, WALocal News

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is making significant progress in the construction of a new southbound I-5 off-ramp to SR 529 in Marysville, having recently installed concrete girders for the project. This initiative aims to enhance traffic flow and safety, addressing longstanding congestion issues in the area. The new off-ramp is expected to open in April 2025, providing a much-needed alternative for drivers currently relying on a temporary ramp. In addition to the off-ramp, WSDOT will establish a new on-ramp from SR 529 to southbound I-5 and an off-ramp from northbound I-5 to SR 529, easing traffic backups at the Fourth Street/SR 528 exit. The construction also includes a roundabout facilitating smoother transitions between routes and a pedestrian undercrossing for non-motorized travelers.

With completion slated for late 2025, this project is part of a larger effort to improve access between Everett and Marysville. The enhancements are expected to provide substantial benefits to the community, making travel more efficient and safer for all users. WSDOT's commitment to infrastructure development underscores the importance of investing in regional transportation solutions.
