This case gained significant attention after Ariel was reported missing on March 27, 2024, prompting a massive search effort that included nearly one hundred law enforcement personnel and the FBI. Despite these efforts, the child's body was found along Interstate 5 in Pierce County, a heartbreaking outcome that has devastated the local community. Mayor Cassie Franklin and Everett Police Chief John DeRousse shared their condolences and emphasized the tragedy of losing such a young life. The investigation began with Janet Garcia being a person of interest shortly after Ariel was reported missing.
