Another Vehicle Drives Into the Lake in Lake Stevens

Everett, WALocal News

A vehicle drove into Lake Stevens at a boat launch for the second time in less than three months, exacerbated by foggy and dark conditions. The incident occurred around 8:10 PM, when an elderly driver mistakenly navigated down the boat ramp. A vigilant good Samaritan spotted the submerged truck and promptly called 911, jumping into the water to assist the driver. First responders from Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue, including off-duty firefighter Alex Fatkin, arrived quickly to manage the situation. The water temperature was around 40 degrees, posing significant risks of cold water exposure for anyone submerged.

As the vehicle drifted approximately 100 feet from the shore, firefighters and the good Samaritan successfully extricated the driver from the sinking truck. Both individuals received medical treatment for cold water exposure, with the driver hospitalized and the good Samaritan warming up in an Aid unit. Authorities emphasize the importance of driving safely in challenging weather conditions and provide tips for escaping vehicles that enter the water.
