Styrofoam Recycling Event

Everett, WALocal News

The Students for Environmental Action (SEA) Club at Everett Community College is hosting a Styrofoam recycling event on January 22, 2025, from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m. in Parking Lot K, encouraging community participation in recycling initiatives.

This drive-through event will have volunteers available to help unload clean Styrofoam and related materials, promoting a sustainable approach to waste management. Participants can contribute to the Marysville Food Bank by donating non-perishable food items or making financial donations, as the food bank is providing the truck for Styrofoam transportation to Styrorecycle in Kent. Accepted items include clean Styrofoam, packing peanuts (bagged), bubble wrap, and plastic film, while contaminated materials will be rejected. To ensure effective recycling, attendees are advised to remove tape and labels from their items. This event represents a shift in location from previous styrofoam recycling gatherings, highlighting the ongoing effort to engage the community in environmentally responsible practices.

The initiative not only aids in reducing waste but also fosters local community support through food donations. By participating, residents can help contribute to a cleaner environment while supporting those in need.
