The Kushery Cannabis experienced its third burglary this year early Sunday morning, prompting a response from local law enforcement. Deputies found one vehicle used to breach the storefront and pursued a second vehicle occupied by fleeing suspects. Spike strips were deployed, disabling the stolen Kia Optima, which crashed shortly after. Six suspects fled on foot, but a K-9 unit apprehended a 17-year-old male who now faces charges including Burglary 2 and Malicious Mischief 1. This incident follows similar break-ins reported in March and December 2023, highlighting ongoing security issues for cannabis retailers.

Pot shops often operate on a cash-only basis due to federal banking restrictions, increasing their vulnerability to crime. The local community is urged to assist the investigation by providing any information regarding the additional suspects involved. This remains an active investigation as authorities seek to enhance security measures for such businesses.
