Everett Career Link offers youth internship opportunities

Everett, WALocal News

Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin announced the launch of the Everett Career Link program during her State of the City address on January 31. This initiative, developed in partnership with the Everett School District, will offer high school students internships that allow them to earn credits while gaining work experience. Mayor Franklin highlighted the importance of creating pathways for students to explore local career opportunities, stating that it is vital for their success and the community's economic health. Superintendent Dr. Gary Cohn commended the program as a collaborative effort that prepares students for future employment.

Local businesses, including Kaiser Permanente and Providence, have already signed on to host interns this summer. With a focus on a 90-hour summer internship, the program aims to connect students with real-world experiences while fostering local talent. Cohn noted that this partnership will not only improve opportunities for students but also benefit employers by increasing productivity and bringing fresh perspectives.
