An 11-year-old boy is in critical but stable condition following a near-drowning incident at Silver Lake on July 8. He fell off a dock and submerged for four to six minutes before a 13-year-old swimmer bravely rescued him. Bystanders, including three nurses, commenced CPR until firefighters arrived and continued their efforts, ultimately regaining a pulse before transporting him to Providence Regional Medical Center. The Everett Fire Department commended the young rescuer's courage, which significantly contributed to the boy's survival. This incident underscores the critical importance of CPR training and diligent supervision of children around water.

Local authorities are urging community members to adhere to water safety guidelines. Drownings can occur swiftly and silently, highlighting the need for vigilance. The response involved 17 personnel from various emergency departments, showcasing a coordinated effort to save the child's life.
