Do it for your neighbors South County Fire launches campaign reminding community of impacts from fireworks

Edmonds, WALocal News

South County Fire has launched a campaign to address the harmful impacts of illegal fireworks within its service area, which includes Brier, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace, and unincorporated southwest Snohomish County. Fireworks are illegal in these areas, and Outreach Manager Shawneri Guzman highlighted the fear and insecurity felt by residents, especially on the Fourth of July. The campaign aims to inform the community through ads on local radio, online platforms, and social media. Additionally, South County Fire is providing free "Fireworks Illegal" yard signs for residents to display, available from June 23 to June 28 at designated fire stations. This initiative comes as emergency responders face increased call volumes during the holiday due to fireworks-related incidents.

Guzman encourages community members to consider the well-being of their neighbors, veterans, and pets by avoiding fireworks. The availability of yard signs aims to raise awareness and promote compliance with local laws. For more information, including a map of banned areas and professional fireworks shows, residents can visit the South County Fire website.
