In Days Gone By Former Mayor Harve Harrisons home on the move

Edmonds, WALocal News

Harve Harrison, Edmonds' longest-serving mayor from 1967 to 1983, played a crucial role in the city's development, particularly in the downtown area and local parks. His home, built in 1983, became a community gathering place until it was inherited by his daughter, Cornelia Birkland, after his death in 2016. In 2023, Birkland sold the property to Jerry Masters, who intends to build a new residence on the lot. Instead of demolishing the historic house, Masters is collaborating with the House Donation Group to relocate it to Poulsbo, ensuring it serves a new purpose for those in need. Preparations for the move are underway, with a scheduled transport date in late June 2025.

This effort highlights the importance of preserving local history while accommodating modern development needs. The relocation process includes rotating the house to facilitate transport, demonstrating a thoughtful approach to community heritage.
