City administrator, middle housing, budget among topics for June 17 council committee meetings

Edmonds, WALocal News

The Edmonds City Council will convene virtually on June 17 at 6 p. m. to discuss significant topics, including a proposal for a new city administrator position and updates to the middle housing code. Mayor Mike Rosen's reorganization plan, introduced in March, aims to combine departmental functions and improve workflow management. The middle housing code update, expected to be adopted on June 24, aligns with state House Bill 1110, which mandates more diverse housing types in single-family zones, including duplexes and triplexes.

The council will also review budget scenarios, considering various revenue options and a possible levy lid lift for voter consideration in November. A presentation summarizing the 2025 state legislative session will be part of the agenda. Prior to the main meeting, Committee B will discuss a lease agreement for a police community engagement vehicle and the city's Commute Trip Reduction Plan. Public participation is facilitated through a webinar link or in-person viewing at City Hall. The council's decisions could significantly impact local housing policies and budgetary planning.
