The Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) launched its annual PAWSwalk fundraiser with a community festival at Edmonds’ Civic Park on Sunday. The event featured over 50 vendors, raffles, and flyball demonstrations, where teams of dogs raced against each other to retrieve tennis balls. PAWSwalk is a virtual walkathon taking place now through June 28, allowing participants to raise funds for animal welfare from anywhere. The festival attracted local residents and provided an opportunity for them to engage with PAWS and its mission. Flyball, a competitive dog sport, captured the attention of attendees, showcasing the athleticism and training of participating dogs.

The event highlights PAWS's role in promoting animal care and advocacy in the community. Local businesses also benefited from the increased foot traffic at the festival. Overall, the PAWSwalk initiative aims to strengthen community ties while supporting animal welfare efforts.
