Edmonds Waterfront Center launches Environmental Speaker Series June 5

The Edmonds Waterfront Center will launch Annie Crawley’s Environmental Speaker Series on June 5, centered on marine wildlife rescue and ocean conservation. The first speaker, Casey McLean, is the founding executive director of SR³, a nonprofit dedicated to marine wildlife health in the Pacific Northwest. McLean brings over 15 years of experience, leading a team that assists stranded and injured marine animals. Her presentation will feature stories from SR³’s marine wildlife hospital, the only facility of its kind in the region, and address the challenges faced during seal pupping season. Future events will include talks by Dr.

Ed Kolodziej, who focuses on urban watershed contaminants linked to salmon deaths, and Dr. Cindy Elliser, who studies marine mammals and engages the community in conservation. Tickets cost $7. 50, with preregistration recommended due to limited seating. The series aims to foster local involvement in environmental issues and promote awareness of marine conservation efforts.
