Former Kruger Clinic named in honor of Verdant Health Commissioner Fred Langer

Edmonds, WALocal News

The former Kruger Clinic building in Edmonds has been renamed the Fred Langer building in honor of Fred Langer, a Verdant Health Commissioner who served from 1998 until his death in 2021. Langer played a significant role in the establishment of the Verdant Health Commission and was recognized for his contributions during a ceremony attended by local officials and the Langer family. The Langer Clinic, which underwent a $9 million renovation in 2023, now offers a range of healthcare services, including urgent care and gastro health. Swedish Edmonds CEO Kristy Carrington highlighted the increasing demand for healthcare, noting that Swedish treated over 90,000 patients last year, with a 6% rise in urgent care visits. Mayor Mike Rosen expressed pride in the facility's naming and Langer's dedication to community health.

Verdant Board President Karianna Wilson acknowledged the significance of the event in memorializing Langer's impact. The ceremony included a plaque presentation to Langer's family and a ribbon-cutting where family members participated. This event underscores the ongoing commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility in the Edmonds area.
