Edmonds kicks off Pride Month with a community picnic

Edmonds, WALocal News

The Edmonds Pride community kicked off Pride Month with a picnic at Hickman Park on June 1, attracting several dozen participants. This event, now in its eighth iteration, stands as Edmonds Pride’s longest-running gathering. Attendees enjoyed a potluck-style picnic, bringing salads, fruits, and sweets to share. Rowan Soiset, the director of Edmonds Pride, welcomed newcomers with gratitude and smiles, enhancing the inclusive atmosphere. Children played in the playground while teens engaged in creative chalk art, and even pets like Ripley the cat and Aloy the husky joined in the festivities.

The event highlighted the community spirit within the LGBTQIA+ population and their allies. For those who missed the picnic, Edmonds Pride plans additional events throughout the month. Interested individuals can find more information on upcoming activities at edmondspride. net.
