MNNNs Nick Ng earns first place in regional journalism competition

Nick Ng of My Neighborhood News Network won first place in the 2024 Excellence in Journalism Awards, recognizing his photograph of Sakha women dancing at the Yhyakh festival. The Society of Professional Journalists Region 10 honored Ng in the news photography category for small publications. This image was part of a broader narrative featuring Lynnwood families from the Republic of Sakha, who gathered at Lynndale Park to celebrate the festival in June 2024. Yhyakh is an ancient celebration that signifies the arrival of summer and a new year for the Sakha community. MNNN President Teresa Wippel commended Ng for capturing the community's diversity through his lens.
