Prep track and field Dubiel, Pontak lead way as Edmonds SD athletes earn state medals

The WIAA State 2A/3A/4A Track and Field Championships wrapped up at Mount Tahoma High School, highlighting the achievements of Edmonds School District athletes. Brynlee Dubiel earned a second-place medal in the 3A girls 300-meter hurdles, improving from her third-place finish last year. Jaxon Pontak set a personal record with a javelin throw of 176-9, placing third in the boys' competition. Other Edmonds medalists included Aliah Karl and Brian Mills, who finished sixth in the 3A girls 800-meter run and the 3A boys 400-meter dash, respectively. The Mountlake Terrace girls team achieved eighth place overall, marking the district's best result since 2019.

The Edmonds-Woodway boys placed 22nd in the team standings, while Meadowdale tied for 29th among 53 teams. The success of the athletes reflects the growing strength of the district's track and field program. The championships drew significant participation, showcasing the competitive spirit and talent within the Edmonds School District.
