Edmonds, WALocal News

The Edmonds Food Bank joins Lift Every Voice Legacy and the Edmonds Waterfront Center for the Juneteenth at the Beach event on June 19, 2025, from 11 a. m. to 2 p. m. The celebration will include live performances, children's book readings, and a screening of the acclaimed film *Hidden Figures*.

A food drive will support the Edmonds Food Bank, collecting essential items like baking products, side dishes, and canned fruit. "We’re honored to be part of a celebration that brings people together," said Executive Director Casey Davis, highlighting the event's focus on community and inclusion. Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when Union soldiers informed the last enslaved African Americans in Texas of their freedom. The event aims to unite the community in celebration, reflection, and a commitment to justice. Food insecurity remains a pressing issue, making the food drive vital for local residents.

Community members are encouraged to contribute to the food bank's efforts by donating the most-needed items throughout the event.
