Centers and hubs, middle housing, budget scenarios on council agenda June 3

Edmonds, WALocal News

On Tuesday, the Edmonds City Council will gather to tackle a full agenda, including discussions on neighborhood centers and a significant $6 million budget reduction. The council will hold a public hearing on the 2026-2031 Six-Year Transportation Improvement Program, aiming to enhance local infrastructure. A proposal will be considered to extend an interim ordinance on neighborhood centers to allow for more public hearings and discussions. Mayor Mike Rosen highlighted the need for a resolution in June to prepare for budget cuts and a possible levy lift in November, stressing the importance of informing residents about their choices. The council will also review draft updates for middle housing and design review codes, which are crucial for city development.

Furthermore, they will recognize LGBTQ+ Pride Month during the meeting. Prior to the council session, Committee A will meet remotely to discuss amendments to the city’s street vacation code. Proposed changes include clarifying requirements and establishing appraisal processes for street vacations.
