Runners get their plaid on during NW Kilted Run at Ballinger Park

Edmonds, WALocal News

The First Annual Northwest Kilted Run held at Ballinger Park attracted 40 participants, raising funds for the Northwest Junior Pipe Band. Participants donned a mix of traditional tartan kilts and creative alternatives, including plaid pants and even towel kilts. Organizer Tamarah emphasized that kilts are optional, promoting a fun, inclusive atmosphere. A highlight of the event was the "Welly Toss," where competitors hurled rubber boots for distance, achieving throws from 30 feet to over 70 feet. Sponsors such as Datdental and the Celtic Arts Foundation contributed to the event's success.

The setting featured pleasant weather, with blue skies and temperatures in the low 60s, enhancing the festive mood. As one Scottish saying goes, attendees were "full of the joys," reflecting the spirit of the event. The run not only promoted fitness but also celebrated Scottish culture and community engagement.
