Prep track and field day one Pair of Edmonds SD athletes come away with medals while others qualify for finals

The 2025 WIAA State Track and Field Championships began in Tacoma, with notable performances from Edmonds School District athletes on the first day. Mountlake Terrace’s Allison Mervin secured a fourth-place finish in the 3A girls long jump, achieving a distance of 18-05. 25, which is significant following her fifth-place finish last year. Edmonds-Woodway's Nicholas Manz earned his first state medal, finishing sixth in the 3A boys discus throw, improving from ninth in the previous year. Brynlee Dubiel qualified for the finals in the 3A girls 100-meter hurdles, placing third in the preliminaries.

The Meadowdale boys 4x400-meter relay team also advanced to the finals with a seventh-place finish. Other competitors from the district, including Mervin and the Edmonds-Woodway girls 4x400-meter relay team, faced challenges, failing to qualify for their respective finals. The event, which runs through Saturday, highlights the talent within the Edmonds School District. This year's championships showcase the athletes' determination and skill on a state-level platform.
