Skandia schedules folk dances for June in Lynnwood

Skandia Folk Dance Society is set to host two folk dance events in June at Cedar Valley Grange, located at 20526 52nd Ave. W. , Lynnwood. The first event on June 6 will teach participants the Åtabakspolska, a slow and beautiful dance from Föllinge, Sweden, with music provided by the Metrognomes. The second event on June 20 will include polka and Busserull, a 2/4 time dance similar to Rørospols, led by instructors Lisa Brooks and Elaine Mathies.

Kris Johansson will lead the Skandia Kapell, known for their captivating tunes, during this event. Admission for each dance is set at $15, or $10 for Skandia members, encouraging wider participation. These dances not only offer entertainment but also foster community connections through cultural traditions.
