Author S. Barbara Hilyer will discuss her book "Legacy Lost: Passing Across the Color Line" at the Edmonds Waterfront Center on June 12. After discovering her African American aunt, Hilyer embarked on a quest to learn about her family's history, which took her to various locations across the United States. The event, co-sponsored by the Edmonds Bookshop and the My Neighborhood News Network, aims to challenge America's oversimplified views on race.

Hilyer, who has a master's degree in curriculum and instructional leadership, spent her teaching career in Oregon. Tickets are available for $7. 50, and the venue offers accessibility options, including assistive listening devices. Attendees can reserve seats online or walk in based on availability. This event highlights important conversations about race and identity in contemporary society.
