Prep track and field 50 Edmonds SD athletes to compete in state championships this week

This week, 50 Edmonds School District athletes will compete in the WIAA 2A/3A/4A State Track & Field Championships, with many aiming for podium finishes and state titles. Mountlake Terrace junior Brynlee Dubiel is a standout, holding the state's fastest time in the 3A girls 100-meter hurdles and being a top contender in the 300-meter hurdles. Her teammate, Allison Mervin, will enter three events, including the long jump, where she has recorded a top mark of 18-4. Other noteworthy competitors include Meadowdale’s Zoe Grant in the high jump and Edmonds-Woodway’s Jaxon Pontak in pole vault. The championships commence on May 29 at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma, with events starting at 1 p.

m. Medals will be awarded during the meet, and the state team awards will be presented on May 31 around 6 p. m. This year's competition showcases the talent and dedication of local student athletes, highlighting their hard work throughout the season. The results could mark significant achievements for the athletes and the Edmonds School District.
