Edmonds, WALocal News

The Edmonds Opera House will host its monthly Big Band Night on June 19, featuring the Jazz Punishments, a band primarily composed of Edmonds-Woodway High School alumni. Led by professional musician Jake Bergevin, the band performs alongside current high school students, offering them an opportunity to sight-read with experienced players. This event follows the Edmonds Art Walk, encouraging attendees to enjoy both visual and musical arts in one evening. Bergevin expressed gratitude for the support from the Opera House and Vinbero, which will provide refreshments to attendees. Sponsored by JazzClubsNW and the Jazz Colony, the event is funded through contributions raised during the annual Edmonds Jazz Walk.

This collaboration highlights the importance of community engagement and cultural appreciation through music. The local jazz scene benefits from such initiatives, helping to cultivate the next generation of musicians. Events like this not only entertain but also strengthen community bonds through shared artistic experiences.
