Memorial Day 2025 Honoring those who made the supreme sacrifice
More than 200 attendees honored fallen service members at a Memorial Day ceremony at Edmonds Memorial Cemetery. The event paid tribute to two World War II veterans: James Herbert Keefe Jr. , who endured imprisonment in a German POW camp, and Douglas Munro, the only Coast Guard member to receive the Medal of Honor. Capt. Richard Marin, U.
S. Navy (ret), emphasized the role of families in supporting service members and encouraged them to stand during the Armed Forces Medley. Kerry Radley recounted her father's experiences as a B-24 bomber pilot, including his capture and liberation. Mayor Mike Rosen highlighted the historical context, noting the U. S.
has been at war 93% of the time since 1775 and the heavy toll of combat, particularly during World War II. He urged the audience to honor the fallen by fostering better community relationships. The ceremony also included a traditional white table ceremony honoring POWs and MIAs. The event served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made for freedom and the importance of national unity.
