Edmonds, WALocal News

Snohomish County 911 commenced operations in a new $67. 5 million emergency communications center in Everett, marking a pivotal moment for public safety in the area. This facility, converted from the former Frontier Bank headquarters, took three years to complete and is designed to serve the county's needs for decades. SNO911, which serves 44 police, fire, and medical agencies across 2,000 square miles, manages 1,500 to 2,000 calls daily. The consolidation of all staff under one roof for the first time aims to improve collaboration and service delivery efficiency.

Executive Director Kurt Mills stated that the move signifies a commitment to enhancing public safety. The facility adheres to Risk Category IV standards, ensuring it remains operational during and after disasters. Employee wellness was a key design consideration, with improved ergonomics and air quality. This investment in infrastructure reflects a long-term approach to emergency services in Snohomish County.
