Edmonds Jazz Connection returns May 17 A community celebration of youth, music and talent

Edmonds, WALocal News

The Edmonds Jazz Connection returns on May 17, offering a platform for high school jazz musicians from the Pacific Northwest to showcase their talents. Held at the Edmonds Center for the Arts and the Edmonds Theater, this free event draws over 3,000 attendees each year. Many performers have competed nationally, and the event provides them an opportunity to play alongside professional musicians. Proceeds will support scholarships, classroom grants, and initiatives promoting female participation in jazz, with a fundraising goal of $25,000. The Rotary Club of Edmonds Daybreakers collaborates with local educators to identify areas most in need of support.

This year, funding will also include clinician sessions to enhance students' improvisation skills. Local businesses and individuals can contribute as sponsors, ensuring the sustainability of music programs in the Edmonds School District. The event not only celebrates music but also strengthens community ties through support for youth and the arts.
