Public invited to Memorial Day Ceremony at Edmonds College on May 20

Edmonds College will host its 12th annual Memorial Day Ceremony on May 20 at 2 p. m. in the Black Box Theatre, honoring the sacrifices of veterans with the theme “We Remember. ” The event will feature Vietnam veteran Donald Lachman as the keynote speaker, who served in the U. S.

Army Medical Department from 1972 to 1976. Emcees include Matthew Durkee, Rachel Klem, and student veterans Rafael Carrero and Arthur Walton, showcasing local engagement and veteran representation. Highlights will include a presentation of colors by VFW 1040, a slideshow honoring the fallen, and a wreath-laying ceremony, all aimed at fostering community remembrance. Edmonds College President Dr. Amit B.

Singh emphasized the importance of honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Admission is free, and attendees are encouraged to register, with a live stream option available for those unable to attend in person. This ceremony reflects the college's commitment to recognizing the contributions of veterans and current service members.
