38 Snohomish County CASA volunteers receive Presidents Volunteer Service Award

Edmonds, WALocal News

Thirty-eight volunteers from the Snohomish County Office of the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program were honored with the President’s Volunteer Service Award for their exceptional advocacy for children in April 2024. Joelle Kelly, Division Manager for Snohomish County CASA, praised the volunteers for their vital role in providing hope and stability to vulnerable youth. The award recognizes individuals for their sustained commitment to volunteerism, with levels determined by service hours. Notable gold award recipients included Jeanne Thomas, who has served as a CASA volunteer for three years, and others with longer tenures, such as Linda Goodwin and Ginny Rathburn. The silver award recipients represented over 18 years of combined advocacy experience, while 29 volunteers received bronze awards.

Each recipient received a medal, pin, and a personalized letter of appreciation from former President Joe Biden. CASA continues to seek new volunteers, hosting information sessions to engage community members interested in making a difference in children's lives. This recognition reflects the ongoing effort to ensure that children's voices are heard in the dependency court system.
