School board to vote May 13 on performance-based pathway for high school graduation

The Edmonds School Board will vote on a performance-based pathway policy for high school graduation during its meeting on May 13. This option, introduced by the State Board of Education, aims to provide alternative methods for students to meet graduation requirements. To implement this pathway, the district must adopt a policy and develop specific procedures. The meeting will also address emergency waiver requests for the 2024-2025 school year due to power outages affecting schools. A revised policy regarding child abuse and neglect will be presented, clarifying definitions and excluding corporal punishment within limits.

The board will also honor scholarship recipients from Sno-King School Retirees and celebrate the Meadowdale Players for their upcoming performance at the International Thespian Festival. A student presentation will highlight Project SEARCH, which assists students with disabilities in transitioning to employment. The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p. m. at the Educational Services Center in Lynnwood.
